MAT061 — Linear Algebra
A theoretical and practical course introducing matrix algebra and the basic structures of finite-dimensional linear algebra, with proof-based exercises.
Topics: matrix notation and basic matrix operations; determinants, the inverse matrix, and Cramer’s rule; linear combinations and solutions of linear systems; vector subspaces, bases, and proofs thereof; coordinate vectors and change-of-basis matrices; linear transformations and their properties; the matrix associated with a linear transformation and the invertible-map theorem; vector equations and properties of vectors in space; orthogonal sets and the Gram–Schmidt process; orthogonal and normal diagonalization of a matrix; symmetric matrices and the spectral decomposition.
